A resident of the Bukhara region who abused a gray goat listed in Uzbekistan’s Red Book of endangered species has been fined by a court decision. This was reported by the courts of the Bukhara region.
According to reports, the citizen, born in 2005 in the Jondor district, placed a cane in the mouth of a gray goat and treated the animal with cruelty. The incident occurred on June 1 of this year. An administrative protocol was drawn up against him in accordance with the law.
During the court hearing, the offender admitted that he had gone to a field shed in the Gazli desert area of the “Ibn Sino” mahalla to confine his sheep. There, he encountered the goat, struck it on the head with a stick, grabbed it, and forcibly inserted a cane into its mouth. He claimed the goat remained unconscious for 10–15 minutes and then walked away. The young man said he later threw the goat near a lake, filmed the incident on his mobile phone, and posted the video on Instagram. Although he admitted to mistreating the goat, he denied killing it.
The court fined him four times the basic calculation amount, totaling 1.5 million soums, under Article 111 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Cruel treatment of animals).
It should be noted that earlier, a citizen in the Jizzakh region was fined 20 times the basic calculation amount (7.5 million soums) for eating a live river snake. The fine was imposed under Part 1 of Article 90 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (Violation of hunting and fishing rules, as well as the rules for other types of animal exploitation).
