Man arrested for stealing gold jewelry worth 23 million sums in Bukhara

2570A man has been detained in Bukhara region for stealing gold jewelry valued at 23 million sums, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, in an attempt to steal, broke into the apartment of a resident in the Sadir neighborhood of Peshku district. He took a women's gold chain worth 23 million sums from a box in the drawer of a stone mirror within the apartment.
Following an operational investigation, the perpetrator was identified. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Article 169 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and further investigations are underway.
In a related incident, the suspect was previously involved in a murder in Fergana, where he killed his friend and stole 35 million rubles along with gold jewelry that the victim had been saving to buy a house.
