Tashkent, Uzbekistan – A fatal road accident occurred in the Boka district of Tashkent region, where a truck hit a person sitting on the roadside. The incident was reported by the Tashkent Regional Internal Affairs Directorate.

The body of the unidentified victim was discovered at 23:00 on February 17 at the 53rd kilometer of the A373 Gulistan-Buka-Ahangaran road. A medical examination confirmed that the cause of death was a traffic collision. Law enforcement agencies immediately launched an investigation to locate the driver, who had fled the scene.

Authorities identified and detained the suspect the following day. The driver, born in 1994 in the Syrdarya region, was operating an Isuzu truck at the time of the accident.

In his testimony, the driver stated:
"I was driving at 60 km/h in the dark. A citizen was sitting just outside the line. His belongings were scattered in front of him. There were only five meters left. I swerved, thinking I wouldn’t hit him. I got scared and screamed. Thinking he wasn’t hit, I drove away. When I got home and remembered, tears came to my eyes."

A criminal case has been opened under Article 117 (Endangerment) and Article 266 (Violation of Traffic Safety Rules) of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan. The suspect has been taken into custody as a precautionary measure.

Earlier, in Samarkand, a Gentra car hit two pedestrians who were standing on the roadside. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety and driver awareness on Uzbekistan’s roads.
