Person who insulted presenter Nilufar Sotiboldieva on Instagram punished

The individual who insulted the well-known presenter Nilufar Sotiboldieva on Instagram has been punished following a court verdict.

The incident occurred on June 30 of the previous year, when a citizen from the Navoi region left a derogatory comment under a video posted by Sotiboldieva, in which she featured her daughter while in Thailand.

During the court proceedings, the defendant fully admitted to his actions. Sotiboldieva, in response, questioned the individual, "Do you have a family too? Why are you writing such things?" and posted a screenshot of the comment on her own account. In retaliation, the person contacted Sotiboldieva, asking her to remove the pictures. He later filed a complaint about the situation. Despite efforts to reconcile, Sotiboldieva refused, stating that taking legal action would serve as a lesson for others. She requested legal punishment for the defendant and demanded one hundred million oums in moral damages.

Judge Bahrom Berdiev found the defendant guilty under Part 2 of Article 140 (Insult) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The defendant was sentenced to one year of correctional labor, with 10 percent of his salary deducted for the state budget.

Nilufar Sotiboldieva was informed that she had the right to pursue civil action for material and moral damages in this case.

It is worth noting that previously, Honored Artist of Uzbekistan Matyakub Matchanov was fined for insulting an acquaintance.
