Josep Borrell calls Vladimir Norov and asks about the situation in Karakalpakstan

Vladimir Norov, (acting) Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, had a telephone conversation with the high representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Joseph Borrel, and reported on the situation in Karakalpakstan.  This is reported by the press service under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The telephone conversation took place yesterday 4th July.

It considered the topical issues of the development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union in areas of mutual interest.

Norov informed Borrel about the current situation in Karakalpakstan, and the measures which are taken to prevent destabilization and ensure peace, tranquillity, and public security in the area.

In addition, the issues related to the ministerial conference on strengthening interdependence and sustainable development in the form of “European Union - Central Asia”, which is expected to be held in Uzbekistan this year, and the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the European Union and the Central Asian Countries.

Special attention was paid to the participation of the European side in the international conference on the Afghanistan issue, which will be held in Tashkent on 25-26 July 2022.
