On September 5-6, 2024, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, Qu Dongyu, will make an official visit to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the "Dunyo" news agency.

During his visit, Qu Dongyu will participate in the international forum titled "Food Security and Sustainable Development Goals of Landlocked Developing Countries," which will be held in Tashkent.

The forum, organized in collaboration with the Government of Uzbekistan and FAO, aims to share experiences with landlocked developing countries, address climate change challenges, devise solutions, and foster mutually beneficial cooperation.

The two-day event will cover a range of topics, including high-level discussions among agriculture ministers, WTO membership, investment opportunities, private sector cooperation, food security, climate change adaptation, and innovation.

Additionally, an investment forum will be held to explore promising projects, with participation expected from representatives of international organizations and foreign financial institutions.

During his visit, the FAO Director-General will also hold several official meetings and tour various agricultural facilities.

Founded in 1945, the FAO is a specialized agency of the United Nations focused on agriculture, food security, and nutrition. It comprises 194 member countries, with its headquarters located in Rome.

It is also noted that Janusz Wojciechowski, the Commissioner for Agriculture of the European Union, will be in Uzbekistan on September 5-6 to attend the same international forum.
