37536Sherali Komilov, a blogger, has been detained, as reported by Abdurahmon Tashanov, the chairman of the human rights group "Ezgulik."
Komilov, born in 1979, was arrested on July 15 at around 5:00 PM in the Dormon settlement of the Qibray district, Tashkent region. The arrest was based on charges and a warrant issued by the Investigative Department of the DIA of the Kashkadarya region a year ago.
Initially, Komilov was taken to the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Qibray district and later transferred to the detention center No. 1 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. A search of his residence was conducted with authorization from an investigator of the Kashkadarya region's DIA investigative department. During this search, authorities confiscated Komilov's materials and equipment. Witnesses reported that about 15 DIA officers were involved in the arrest.
Tashanov mentioned, “Komilov might be transferred to the Kashkadarya region.”
A criminal case against Komilov was initiated by the Regional Internal Affairs Bureau on charges of fraud, slander, and insult. He had been avoiding the investigation for the past year.
