Man who caused his wife to commit suicide in Bekobod was sentenced to 9 years in prison

In March of this year, it was reported that a 28-year-old woman died after throwing herself from the 5th floor of an apartment building in the Bekobod district of the Tashkent region. Following this incident, the woman's husband was detained as a suspect under Article 227 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court has now sentenced him to 9 years in prison, as informed by Supreme Court spokesperson Aziz Obidov.
According to the judgment of the Bekobod District Court on August 13, 2024, 35-year-old D. Kh. was found guilty of committing the crime and was sentenced to 9 years in prison, to be served in a penal colony.
"R. S., the legal representative of the victim N. Kh. (the deceased), has the right to apply to the civil court for the recovery of material and moral damages from the defendant D. Kh. after collecting the relevant documents. The parties can file a complaint and appeal against the verdict of the court of first instance to the appeal (cassation) instance of the Tashkent regional court within the time specified by law," the report states.
