Bahodir Toshmatov appointed Commander of the National Guard

By a decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Bahodir Hamidovich Toshmatov has been appointed Commander of the National Guard of the Republic of Uzbekistan and, in this connection, has been relieved of his position as Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by the Press Secretary of the President of Uzbekistan.

For reference, Bahodir Toshmatov was born in 1964. He graduated from the Tashkent Higher Combined Arms Command School, the Academy of the Armed Forces of Uzbekistan, the Higher Academic Courses of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, as well as Fergana State University. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Military Sciences and the academic title of Associate Professor.

He served in various command and staff positions within the Turkestan Military District. From 1992 to 1999, he held senior positions at the Ministry of Defense, and from 1999 to 2008, he commanded military district forces of the Ministry of Defense.

From 2008 to 2011, he served as Deputy Minister and First Deputy Minister of Defense, and from 2011 to 2013, he served as Secretary of the National Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. From 2013 to 2017, prior to his appointment as Commander of the National Guard, he served as First Deputy Minister of Defense.

It is worth noting that in July 2025, Bahodir Toshmatov was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Security Council under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
