The requirement for a driver’s license to operate mopeds, quad bikes, tricycles, and scooters in Uzbekistan has been temporairly suspended until the 1st of January 2024.  This development comes as part of the efforts to foster the growth of the service industry, specifically businesses involved in catering and goods delivery within the country.

On the 11th of May, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, signed a decision titled "On measures aimed at further development of goods delivery services," which prompted this change.

The decision states, "The obligation to possess a driver's license for driving mopeds, quad bikes, tricycles, scooters, and similar motorized vehicles, including two-or-three wheeled vehicles with an internal combustion engine that have a maximum design speed of 50 kilometers per hour and a working volume not exceeding 50 cubic centimeters, or an electric motor with a nominal power of more than 0.25 kilowatts and less than 4 kilowatts, will be suspended until 1st of January 2024."

Furthermore, the decision emphasizes that individuals using these vehicles must wear a motorcycle helmet and properly secure it. The aim of these measures is to ensure safety while promoting the development of the service sector in Uzbekistan.
