A new measure is being introduced to penalize drivers who use lanes designated for public transport. This is outlined in a draft law proposing amendments to the Code of Administrative Responsibility.

Under the proposed changes, a first-time offense will result in a fine equal to three times the base calculation amount, or 1,125,000 soums. A repeated offense within a year will lead to a fine of five times the base calculation amount, or 1,875,000 soums.

The draft law will need to pass several stages before it takes effect, including adoption by the lower house of parliament, approval by the Senate, and the President’s signature.

It is worth noting that earlier discussions included the possibility of transitioning public transport in Tashkent to a 24-hour operational schedule.
