On April 10, new legal provisions came into force in Uzbekistan establishing liability for driving vehicles on pedestrian crossings. In this regard, amendments and additions were made to several legislative acts under Law No. 1055 of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Under the new law, changes were made to the Code of Administrative Responsibility. These changes introduce administrative liability for violations such as driving vehicles on pedestrian and bicycle crossings, as well as green spaces in adjacent areas. The law also penalizes the installation of illegal barriers or other devices that obstruct the movement of road users, and driving on roads with dedicated one-way lanes.

According to the amendments, unauthorized movement of vehicles in lanes reserved for routed transport vehicles (unless explicitly permitted) will result in the following penalties:

- A fine of 1 MOP (Minimum Official Payment) for the first offense;
- A fine of 3 MOP for repeat offenses committed within one year of the initial administrative penalty.

For reference, under the presidential decree "On Increasing the Amount of Wages, Pensions, and Benefits," the basic calculation amount (BCA) was increased by 10% as of October 1, 2024. The current BCA in Uzbekistan now stands at 375,000 sums.

It is worth noting that this update follows earlier reports of administrative liability being introduced for driving in designated bus lanes.
