Saudi Arabia has signed an agreement to build a green hydrogen plant near the capital Tashkent.  “Acwapower” website reported about it.

It is noted that Riyadh-based ACWA Power Company signed contracts with the Ministry of Energy and the state chemical company “Uzkimyosanoat”. According to the terms, the company will build a plant producing 3,000 tons of “green” hydrogen per year in the city of Chirchik from the end of 2024.  The hydrogen facility will connect to an existing ammonia plant in the area to reduce natural gas use.

Also, in another project, ACWA Power is conducting a feasibility study to develop a facility with a capacity to produce 500,000 tons of ammonia.  According to the results of the study, which is expected to be completed by 2024, this project is expected to reduce Uzbekistan’s natural gas consumption by 600 million cubic meters per year.

For information, this company signed three major energy contracts with Uzbekistan in August 2022 with a total investment of 12 billion US dollars.
