12545On January 3, the appellate division of the Tashkent City Court’s Criminal Judicial Board reviewed the case of Gayrat Dustov. The Bektemir District Court for Criminal Cases had previously found Dustov guilty of petty hooliganism under Article 183 of Uzbekistan’s Code of Administrative Responsibility. He was sentenced to 15 days of administrative detention.
Aziz Obidov, press secretary of the Supreme Court, reported that the Court of Appeal upheld the initial ruling, confirming Dustov’s offense was correctly classified.
The appeal was filed by Dustov’s legal representatives, contesting the initial verdict. Dustov, born in 1978 in Kashkadarya and previously administratively penalized, appeared before Judge Farrukh Ergashev during the review.
The court dismissed arguments that Dustov’s reconciliation rights were overlooked, citing his prior administrative record for similar offenses within the past year.
"The appellate ruling, issued by the Tashkent City Court, modified the initial decision on January 3, 2025. Taking into account Dustov’s remorse, health condition, and the guarantee of leniency from seven mahalla members, his 15-day sentence was reduced to 8 days. Having already served the full revised term, Dustov was released in the courtroom," the report stated.
It was clarified that all parties retain the right to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court, and the prosecutor may file a formal protest within the legal timeframe.
