Man arrested for killing wife in Andijan

Earlier, it was reported that a man in Andijan had intentionally killed his wife in the middle of the street following a quarrel. The Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs has now provided additional details regarding the incident.

According to the report, on July 4 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a 48-year-old resident of Andijan engaged in a quarrel with his 43-year-old wife. The altercation occurred in the Orikzor neighborhood of Andijan. During the dispute, the man stabbed his wife in the neck with a utility knife, inflicting fatal injuries, and subsequently fled the scene. The woman died at the scene as a result of her wounds.

The Andijan City Prosecutor's Office has initiated a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 97 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Intentional murder). In response, law enforcement agencies launched operational-search measures to locate and apprehend the suspect, identified as A.D.

As a result of the ongoing efforts, officers on night duty detained the suspect A.D. in the Kumakay mahalla of the Altinkul district, Andijan region. He is currently being held in custody by procedural regulations, and investigative activities are continuing.

It should be noted that on July 1, a preventive inspector was fatally stabbed during a call in the Khojaabad district of the Andijan region. The 65-year-old individual responsible for the attack was apprehended at a cemetery on July 4.
