Electric utility worker detained for bribery in Andijan

In the Asaka district of the Andijan region, an engineer from the electrical network company was detained for accepting a bribe in exchange for writing off citizen debts totaling 18 million soums. This was reported by the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office.

According to the report, during an operation conducted jointly with the Asaka district department and the State Security Service, T.A., an engineer at the Asaka district branch of JSC "Tarmoqiy Elektrosetlari" and a previously convicted individual, was caught red-handed. He was found in possession of material evidence while receiving 11 million soums from a citizen identified as Sh.A. in exchange for removing 18 million soums worth of utility debts from the electronic system for both Sh.A. and his mother, K.A., as well as for installing new electricity meters.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 168 (fraud) of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are currently underway.

It should be recalled that earlier, an employee of the Jizzakh city branch of "Regional Electric Networks" was caught accepting a $1,000 bribe in return for securing a job placement.
