Reports circulated on social media claiming that Andijan city mayor Elyorbek Karimov and his assistant had been beaten by unknown individuals. The mayor has commented on the situation.
According to him, the information is not true and no such incident occurred.
“I am perfectly fine. Nothing like this happened. I am surprised where this came from and who needed it. As you can see, work is ongoing and we are working. This information is false,” the mayor said.
He also stated that he has appealed to law enforcement agencies regarding the false report. According to him, the relevant authorities are conducting an investigation within their powers and those who spread the false information will be identified and held accountable.
