Uzbekistan will steadfastly continue its pursuit of World Trade Organization (WTO) membership. The monopoly rights and privileges granted to certain companies will be gradually phased out, ensuring equal rights for all. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted this during a solemn ceremony on August 31, marking the thirty-third anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

“We will resolutely continue our efforts to become a member of the World Trade Organization. We will gradually cancel the monopoly rights and privileges granted to individual companies and ensure equal rights for all,” said the President.

Mirziyoyev noted that earlier this year, a decision was made to terminate 17 state monopolies across sectors such as energy, oil and gas, water management, road construction, railway, and airport services. The President affirmed his commitment to these reforms and emphasized that Uzbekistan aims to become an integral player in international trade.

"Another pressing issue is providing the population with decent employment opportunities. We place our trust in our entrepreneurs to achieve this. Hence, we will continue to expand our support for them.

The President further stated that regular face-to-face meetings with entrepreneurs are held, and decisions are made to address industry challenges and bolster support for business development.

The times call for our businesspeople to think big and create competitive products for global markets.

We wish them success in this endeavor,” Mirziyoyev added.

He also reaffirmed his dedication to continuing democratic reforms in the country, pledging to use all his strength and capabilities to ensure the well-being of the people and to reinforce peace and stability.

“From now on, we will focus on providing our Armed Forces with modern weapons and equipment, while enhancing their combat readiness and morale. However, maintaining peace is not the sole responsibility of our military—it is a sacred duty of every citizen of Uzbekistan. The strength of the nation lies in unity, and its greatest treasure is peace!” the President concluded.
