Earthquake in Afghanistan felt across Uzbekistan

On August 27, at 18:27 Tashkent time, an earthquake struck Afghanistan, the Republican Center for Seismological Monitoring reported.
The quake’s epicenter was located in Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan, approximately 547 kilometers southeast of Tashkent. It registered a magnitude of 5.7 at a depth of 160 kilometers. The epicenter coordinates were 36.55°N, 71.03°E.
The tremors were felt across several regions of Uzbekistan:
- Surkhandarya region: 2–3 points, 342 km from the epicenter
- Fergana region: 2 points, 431 km
- Syrdarya region: 2 points, 480 km
- Jizzakh region: 2 points, 483 km
- Andijan region: 2 points, 486 km
- Samarkand region: 2 points, 496 km
- Namangan region: 2 points, 498 km
- Kashkadarya region: 2 points, 527 km
- Tashkent city: 2 points, 547 km
It is worth noting that a 4.6-magnitude earthquake was previously recorded in Kyrgyzstan. The new tremor occurred one day after that event.
