Earthquake in Afghanistan felt in Uzbekistan

On October 16, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Afghanistan was also felt in parts of Uzbekistan, according to the Republican Center for Seismological Prognostic Monitoring of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The earthquake occurred at 11:56 p.m. local time. Its coordinates were 36.56 degrees north latitude and 70.54 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 200 kilometers. The epicenter was located 536 kilometers northeast of Tashkent.

In Uzbekistan, the tremors were felt at a magnitude of 2 in the Surkhandarya region, approximately 300 kilometers from the epicenter.

It is worth recalling that on October 5, a 3.3-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Samarkand region.
