Abdusattorov reaches World Championship semifinals

Nodirbek Abdusattorov has advanced to the semifinals of the Freestyle Chess World Championship taking place in Weissenhaus, Germany.

The qualification stage concluded on February 13, with eight players competing. After seven rounds, Abdusattorov scored four points, finished among the top four, and secured a place in the semifinals.

Javokhir Sindorov finished seventh with three points and was eliminated from title contention.

On February 14, Abdusattorov will face Norway’s Magnus Carlsen in the semifinal. The second semifinal will see Vincent Keymer take on Fabiano Caruana. The final is scheduled for February 15.

Earlier, on February 1, Abdusattorov won the prestigious Tata Steel Chess tournament held in Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.
