It is becoming increasingly evident that Uzbekistan national team player and "Lens" defender Abdukodir Khusanov is poised to join "Manchester City" during the winter transfer window. The news was first reported by "Telecomasia.net".

According to the source, the 20-year-old center-back and his representatives applied for a UK work visa last week. They are expected to travel to Manchester later this month to finalize the deal and sign the contract.

Notably, the decision to join "Manchester City" was driven by the direct interest of head coach Pep Guardiola in securing Khusanov’s services.

Khusanov’s rise has been impressive. In 2023, he transferred to "Lens" from Belarusian club "Energy BGU" for €100,000. Since then, he has made 31 appearances for the French side, contributing one assist. His current contract with "Lens" extends until June 2027, while "Transfermarkt" estimates his market value at €12 million.

Previously, reports suggested that Khusanov was already close to sealing the deal with "Manchester City", indicating that the move is almost a formality.
