As is known, the “Dunyo Sadolari” festival is being held in the city of Khanabad, Andijan region, for three days, from August 15 to 17. This event, which has been traditionally organized for the past three years, has a positive impact on the city’s economy every year. For instance, about 7.5 billion soums were spent on the 2024 festival, while turnover exceeded 20 billion soums. The city welcomed 2 million guests. This year, even higher results are expected, with a number of new initiatives included in the program.
“Year after year, for example, the economy grew fivefold in the second year compared to the first year. But this year, on the first day of the festival, the economy of Khanabad grew sevenfold, and we expect the number of retail outlets to increase sevenfold as well,” said the mayor of Khanabad, Elyorbek Kholmirzayev.
New projects are also being developed to attract more tourists to the city, which is located in a favorable geographical area.
“Khanabad, the easternmost point of Uzbekistan, the land of the rising sun, has reached the level of welcoming tourists under any circumstances. In the future, we can host international sports competitions, scientific conferences, intellectual contests, and programs from the state agenda here,” he added.
It was also noted that the city of Khanabad has switched to a 24-hour operating mode, and the area is under the surveillance of facial recognition cameras, creating both convenience and safety for tourists.
The organizers emphasized that the expenses of the festival are justified by the increasing flow of tourists each year. For example, the head of a local café told us that during last year’s festival, they made up to 50 million soums in sales, while on ordinary days this figure is around 10 million soums.
The participation of world stars Mustafa Sandal, Arash, Alisha Chinai, the Arabesque group, as well as Uzbek pop singers Munisa Rizayeva, Imron, Jaloliddin Ahmadaliyev, Shokhrukhon, and Sevinch Muminova has boosted this year’s attendance. Thousands of foreign guests arrived in Khanabad a week before the festival, and visits continue. On the first day alone, 150,000 people attended, while on August 16, the figure reached 200,000.
