More than 7,500 Uzbeks receive residence permits in Lithuania

7120In 2023, over 7,500 citizens of Uzbekistan were granted permission to live in Lithuania, a member of the European Union, according to data from the "Eurostat" agency.
It was reported that more than 56,000 foreigners received residence permits in Lithuania, with the majority coming from the following countries:
Belarus: 16,174 people
Uzbekistan: 7,580
Kyrgyzstan: 5,086
Tajikistan: 4,960
India: 3,819
Other countries: 18,454
Lithuania saw a significant increase in the issuance of temporary residence permits, with a growth rate of 79.5% in 2023, making it the top country in the EU for this indicator. Croatia followed in second place with a 41.9% increase, while Romania ranked third with a 34.9% rise.
On the other hand, the Czech Republic (-18.6%) and Cyprus (-10.9%) experienced notable declines in the issuance of temporary residence permits.
