India’s pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd is recalling certain batches of the medicine Telsartan H currently sold in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the state institution Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products.
According to the report, quality control and stability tests conducted by the manufacturer revealed that in batch C2501976 of the medicine Telsartan H 80 mg/12.5 mg, the amount of the active substance hydrochlorothiazide deviated from established standards. This issue was assessed as a quality non-compliance affecting the medicine’s specifications.
No such non-compliance related to the active substance content was identified in batch C2501977 that had been circulated in the territory of Uzbekistan. However, since this batch was produced using the same active substance manufacturing lot as the non-compliant batch, it is also being recalled from the market as a preventive measure to ensure the safety of pharmaceutical circulation and to prevent potential risks.
In this regard, citizens who have purchased Telsartan H 80 mg/12.5 mg from the above-mentioned batches are advised not to use the medicine. If they already possess it, they are urged to refrain from taking it and, if necessary, consult their treating physician to select an alternative medication.
“The Center for the Safety of Pharmaceutical Products urges the public to always exercise caution when using medicines, not to take drugs without a doctor’s recommendation, and to verify any information related to medicines only through official and reliable sources,” the statement said.
It is also recommended to avoid drawing unfounded conclusions regarding pharmaceutical circulation and not to trust unverified information disseminated through various unofficial sources.
It is worth noting that earlier, Nestlé Food announced a voluntary recall of a limited quantity of baby food products in Uzbekistan, including instant dry milk and fermented milk mixtures, as well as dry mixtures based on amino acids for therapeutic dietary nutrition.
