During a meeting of the Central Asian state leaders in Astana, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended his congratulations to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the outstanding performance of Uzbek athletes at the Olympics, as reported by "1bol.kz."
In his congratulatory remarks, President Tokayev highlighted the remarkable achievement of two Uzbek athletes who secured their status as two-time Olympic champions.
"Congratulations on your nation's Olympic success! Boxer Hasanboy Dusmatov has become an Olympic champion. Additionally, your taekwondo athletes have claimed the championship title. We were all cheering them on," President Tokayev stated.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in turn, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the recognition.
For reference, 22-year-old Ulugbek Rashidov, representing Uzbekistan in taekwondo at the ongoing Paris Olympic Games, has successfully defended his title, becoming a two-time Olympic champion. Hasanboy Dusmatov, the champion of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, triumphed in the final bout of the -51 kg weight category against host boxer Bennama Bilal, securing his second Olympic gold medal.
