2649On August 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on measures to reduce poverty and enhance the social protection system, as informed by the Presidential press service.
The presentation included proposals for the proportional development of these two areas. Based on the analysis, criteria for determining poverty and an address list will be developed. This list will particularly include those registered in the "Unified Register of Social Protection" and individuals at high risk of falling into poverty. Families identified by the "seven neighborhood" and their activists through a voting process will also be included. All social services and assistance aimed at lifting people out of poverty will be coordinated by "Inson" centers.
Furthermore, to better understand the factors contributing to poverty, a comprehensive questionnaire covering eight areas of social protection and employment will be developed. This tool will assess the capabilities of families and categorize them into three groups. Each family will receive tailored support to help them "get on their feet." Annually, 50 neighborhoods will be selected by the National Agency for Social Protection and regional authorities to be transformed into areas free of poverty and unemployment.
"Poverty reduction must be elevated to a new level, drawing on the experience gained in recent years and addressing the needs of the people. It is essential to support the aspirations and potential of those in need, integrating them into society. Ultimately, all social assistance must be linked to employment," stated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Additionally, the implementation of poverty reduction programs will be monitored in three stages: at the neighborhood and district levels, regional levels, and at the national level. Public oversight in this process will also be strengthened.
It is worth noting that the minimum consumption expenses used to determine the poverty line in Uzbekistan were recently increased.
