86261Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, has expressed his willingness to sell his house and return the funds to the state if public criticism over the allocation of funds to "The Voice" project continues. He made this statement during a press conference held on August 16 at the Information and Mass Communications Agency.
"Let me make one thing clear: 'The Voice' project is essential for us. It serves to enhance the image of Uzbekistan. If allocating 2 billion soums for this purpose is considered a crime, then so be it. If you criticize the allocation of 2 billion soums to the only music show in the world that is the best in 76 countries and promotes the image of Uzbekistan, I will return this money, even by selling my house," Nazarbekov stated.
Addressing the international significance of the project, Minister Nazarbekov highlighted that neighboring countries have expressed interest in participating.
"The mere fact that this project has come to Uzbekistan has caught the attention of Central Asian countries. I'm receiving calls from various countries asking when they can participate. Wasn't this exactly what we needed for the country's image? Even a single athlete can raise the image of the country on an international platform. This project showcases Uzbekistan's talents on the global stage, viewed by 76 countries. People are searching for Uzbekistan on the map, asking where it is. That was the goal—to have 'The Voice' become a brand. Through this show, we even have participants from Cuba. Believe me, this project will elevate the recognition of talents within the republic," Nazarbekov remarked in response to criticisms.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Culture previously stated that 30% of the total expenses for the TV project would be allocated to "The Voice."
