Abdulaziz Kamilov meets with European Council leadership in Brussels

2928A delegation led by Abdulaziz Kamilov, Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Foreign Policy, met with the leadership of the European Council in Brussels, UzA reports.
During his visit, Kamilov held meetings with Pedro Lurti, Head of the Cabinet of the President of the European Council; Viviane Lunella, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy; and Bartjan Vegter, the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator.
Discussions with Pedro Lurti focused on the prospects for strengthening interregional cooperation ahead of the upcoming "Central Asia - European Union" summit, scheduled to take place in Samarkand on April 3-4.
According to the Dunyo news agency, Kamilov’s meeting with Bartjan Vegter addressed cooperation in countering terrorism and radicalization, as well as the evolving situation in Afghanistan. The EU Coordinator emphasized Uzbekistan’s critical role in maintaining regional stability and security in Central Asia and its efforts in supporting Afghanistan’s recovery.
It is worth noting that last month, Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan and eldest daughter of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, met with the European Union’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Toivo Klaar. Their discussions focused on bilateral preparations for the "European Union - Central Asia" summit in April.
