Head of Preschool and School Education Department detained for bribery in Jizzakh

An official from the education system in the Jizzakh region has been detained as a result of a joint оперативe operation conducted by the State Security Service and the Prosecutor’s Office, the State Security Service reported.
According to the statement, the head of the Preschool and School Education Department allegedly abused his official authority by demanding a bribe of 4.8 million soums from the director of a state preschool institution in exchange for not conducting an inspection.
The official was detained with material evidence while receiving the demanded sum through extortion.
A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 210, Part 2(c) of the Criminal Code (bribe-taking), and investigative actions are ongoing.
During the investigation, additional alleged illegal activities were uncovered under Article 167 (misappropriation or embezzlement), Article 209 (official forgery), and Article 243 (legalization of proceeds from criminal activity) of the Criminal Code.
Earlier, authorities reported the detention of an individual in Tashkent who allegedly demanded $12,000 in exchange for securing admission to the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
