Power grid employee detained with marijuana in Jizzakh

An employee of the Jizzakh branch of the Main Electric Grid Networks has been detained with narcotic substances in Jizzakh region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to the report, the suspect, born in 1968, was detained during a law enforcement operation conducted jointly by the regional departments of the State Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other agencies. He was caught red-handed while attempting to sell marijuana stored in two matchboxes, with material evidence seized at the scene.

It was also established that 70 additional matchboxes containing marijuana had been kept at his residence with the intent to sell.

A forensic chemical examination has been ordered in connection with the case.

The suspect has been detained on suspicion of violating Articles 221 and 224 of the Criminal Code, which regulate grounds and procedures for detention prior to the initiation of criminal proceedings.

Earlier, it was reported that a suspect in Termez district of Surkhandarya region had been detained while attempting to transport 72 kilograms of narcotics disguised as potatoes.
