The first metro line in New Tashkent city will be completed by the end of 2026, the New Tashkent Directorate reported.

The project is valued at $110 million, and an 8-kilometer metro line consisting of three stations will be constructed within its framework. This project, being implemented by the Turkish firm “Xvav Yapi Sanayi Ve Tic. A.S,” will be part of the route from the “Dostlik” station to New Tashkent.

Of the project’s total cost, $11 million is planned to be allocated in 2025, with $99 million earmarked for 2026.

It is worth noting that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the presentation of construction and public transportation projects planned in Tashkent city on June 16 this year, during which a new metro line to New Tashkent was included. The route will start from “Dostlik” station and extend to the new center. The planned metro line, expected to be 21 kilometers in length and consisting of nine stations, will have a daily passenger capacity of up to 230,000.

Earlier, on August 2 this year, metro train operations were halted along the six-station stretch from “Technopark” to “Yangiobod” stations due to scheduled maintenance work.
