Statistics on disabilities in Uzbekistan by region revealed

As of the first quarter of 2025, the total number of persons with disabilities in Uzbekistan stands at 1,031,609, which represents 2.7% of the nation's population. This data was provided by the National Agency for Social Protection.
Of this total, 173,285 are children under the age of 18. Individuals are categorized into groups based on their level of disability: 94,722 fall under Group I, 695,372 under Group II, and 67,006 under Group III.
When considering gender, 45% of those with disabilities (465,645) are women, and 55% (565,964) are men. The largest proportion of individuals with disabilities, accounting for 493,879 people, falls within the age group of 30 years to retirement age.
During 2025 so far, medical-social expert commissions have assessed and assigned primary disabilities to 17,499 individuals, while 41,487 individuals have had their disability status reassessed. The most common causes of primary disability include circulatory system disorders (2,808 cases), musculoskeletal system diseases (1,900 cases), congenital anomalies (1,724 cases), endocrine diseases (1,580 cases), and nervous system disorders (1,349 cases).
Regionally, the highest numbers of persons with disabilities are recorded in Samarkand (110,189), Kashkadarya (108,041), Fergana (94,395), Andijan (88,470), and Surxondaryo (88,470). On the other hand, the lowest figures are reported in Syrdarya (38,123), Jizzakh (44,496), Navoiy (48,172), and Bukhara (60,446).
