Starting from March 20 of this year, the use of the Temu platform will be restricted in Uzbekistan in accordance with the country's legislation. This was reported by the National Agency for Promising Projects.
It is noted that paragraph 2 of the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan No. 885, dated December 26, 2024, titled "On Measures for the Further Development of the E-Commerce Sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan," stipulates that only legal entities — residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan — may operate as e-commerce operators, particularly as operators of e-commerce platforms.
Therefore, during the examination of foreign e-commerce platforms offering services, it was found that some do not comply with the requirements of Uzbekistan's legislation in areas such as e-commerce, retail trade, advertising, personal data protection, consumer rights protection, and copyright and related rights.
“Based on the above, and in accordance with the requirements of the legislation, from March 20, 2025, the use of foreign e-commerce platforms, including the Temu platform, will be restricted in accordance with the established procedure,” the report states.
The agency also advised against placing orders on the Temu platform.
“If an order was placed previously, it is recommended to arrange a refund on the platform,” the report says.
It should be recalled that earlier reports indicated that the Chinese Temu marketplace, which has been gaining popularity among Uzbeks, may be blocked in Uzbekistan.
