Rivers and streams flowing through the central cities of Uzbekistan will be stocked with at least 15 tons of juvenile fish every year. This is provided for in Government Resolution No. 343 “On Measures to Compensate for Losses to Wildlife and Protect Rare and Highly Endangered Wild Animals.”

According to the resolution, from August 1, 2026, to January 1, 2028, hunting of rare and highly endangered wild animals in Uzbekistan listed in the annex to the resolution will be prohibited.

In this regard:

  • this restriction will not apply to the hunting of wild animals kept and/or bred on farms, in nurseries, incubators, fish hatcheries and pond farms, or to hunting for scientific and medical purposes;
  • when forming and distributing quotas for the capture of wild animals, quotas may not be allocated for rare and highly endangered wild animal species whose hunting is prohibited.

In addition, from August 1, 2026, to January 1, 2030, rivers and streams flowing through the central cities of the republic will be stocked annually with a total of at least 15 tons of juvenile fish based on a list compiled by the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change and the Academy of Sciences.

Earlier, it was reported that a project had been launched to establish a large eco-themed park along the Bozsuv canal in Tashkent’s Uchtepa district.
