Record daily electricity consumption registered in Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan recorded a new all-time high in daily electricity consumption over the past weekend, according to the Ministry of Energy.

It was reported that on January 24 this year, the historical maximum for daily electricity consumption was updated. According to preliminary data, total daily consumption reached 283 million kilowatt-hours, excluding small-scale solar generation.

During the winter season of 2025, the highest daily electricity consumption had previously been recorded on January 11, amounting to 271.8 million kilowatt-hours. In the summer season of 2025, particularly in July, the peak daily consumption reached 272.6 million kilowatt-hours. Based on operational data, this record was surpassed on January 24, when consumption rose to 283 million kilowatt-hours.

On January 25, power plants generated a total of 264.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity, exceeding planned levels by 3 percent.

A total of 246.9 million kilowatt-hours of electricity was supplied to consumers nationwide, also exceeding the planned volume by 3 percent.

Natural gas consumption amounted to 144.7 million cubic meters. Of this volume, 1.5 million cubic meters of natural gas were supplied daily to compressed natural gas stations serving special-purpose vehicles and public transport. In particular, according to data from the automated gas metering and control system, a total of 81,813 cubic meters of natural gas was delivered to special-purpose vehicles and public transport in the Fergana Valley.

For households and social facilities, 2,300 tonnes of liquefied gas were produced, exceeding the plan by 9 percent, while 500 tonnes were delivered. Liquefied gas reserves at regional gas filling stations increased by 2 tonnes, reaching a total of 6,700 tonnes.

On January 25, a total of five technical failures in electrical equipment and one disruption in gas supply were promptly eliminated by emergency response teams. The system continues to operate under an enhanced 24/7 monitoring and response regime.

A total of 1,479 specialized emergency teams have been established across electricity and gas supply enterprises. These teams comprise 7,596 workers who are operating around the clock in the field to ensure stable energy supply.
