Uzbekistan strengthens efforts to defend migrant rights in Russia

On April 28, a delegation of Uzbek officials departed for Russia to participate in a meeting on migrant rights protection, according to the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Led by Deputy Prosecutor General Shohrukh Aminov, the delegation will take part in the first interagency working group meeting focused on labor migration and migrant rights defense.
The delegation includes representatives from:
- Prosecutor General’s Office;
- State Security Service;
- Migration Agency;
- Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs, and Health.
Previously, Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov was questioned by parliament regarding Uzbek nationals abroad. In response, Ministry spokesperson Ahror Burhonov emphasized that the Foreign Ministry has consistently protected Uzbek citizens worldwide and remains committed to this priority.
