Since last year, information technology classes have been introduced for first graders. Starting from the next academic year, artificial intelligence lessons will be added for upper grades. This was announced today, September 9, at a videoconference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on the implementation of education reforms and upcoming tasks.

It was stated that 2,000 classrooms need computers and 6,300 interactive boards for this purpose. The allocation of necessary funds for these goals has been instructed to be included in next year’s state budget.

To create opportunities for gifted students, branches of specialized schools will be established across the regions: Al-Khwarizmi schools for information technology, Mirzo Ulugbek schools for engineering, and Ibn Sina schools for natural sciences.

All of these schools will be affiliated with technical universities in the regions. Graduates who achieve good results will be admitted directly to the second year of these universities.

In 2026, Uzbekistan will host two of the most prestigious international competitions among school students, the International Chemistry Competition and the International Competition in Informatics, for the first time in Central Asia.

The Prime Minister has been instructed to oversee all organizational matters to ensure the successful hosting of these competitions in Tashkent.

Earlier, it was reported that since the beginning of this year, students had won 195 medals at international subject competitions. They were awarded a total of 10 billion soums in increased prize payments, while their coaching teachers received 3.5 billion soums in monetary rewards.
