All deputy ministers of Higher education dismissed in Uzbekistan

All deputies of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, First Deputy Minister Shokhrukh Daliyev, Deputy Ministers Otabek Mahkamov and Sarvarxon Buzrukhonov, have been dismissed. The announcement was made today, September 8, during a videoconference chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dedicated to the implementation of education reforms and upcoming priorities.
It was stated that since the beginning of this year, Uzbek students have won 195 medals at international science competitions. For these achievements, students received monetary awards totaling 10 billion soums at an increased rate, while their coaching teachers were awarded 3.5 billion soums. The number of students obtaining foreign language certificates in over 1,000 schools where foreign specialists are engaged has increased 2.5 times in one year.
’’Indeed, progress has been made in preschool and general education, programs are being implemented, and results are visible. However, officials responsible for vocational and higher education still do not fully grasp the essence of reforms in the education sector’’, the President said.
Therefore, all deputy ministers of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, First Deputy Minister Shokhrukh Daliev, and deputies Otabek Makhkamov and Sarvarhon Buzrukhonov, were dismissed from their posts.
In addition, by Presidential decree and resolution, Adham Khudaykulov, Director of the National Agency for Quality Assurance in Education under the Presidential Administration, was relieved of his position due to his transfer to another job. Sharof Rajabbaev, Director of the Innovation Development Agency under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, was also dismissed from his post.
It was emphasized that henceforth, the ministers of preschool and school education, as well as of higher education, science, and innovation, together with their deputies and regional governors, must shift to preventive and proactive approaches and bring about major changes in all areas of education.
