Uzbekistan’s population has increased nearly tenfold over the past 129 years. This was announced today, June 30, at a press conference dedicated to the preliminary results of the population and agricultural census.
The country’s population currently stands at 39,047,321.
According to preliminary calculations for 2026, Uzbekistan’s population has almost doubled compared with the results of the 1989 population census and increased nearly tenfold compared with 1897.
The population growth dynamics by year are as follows:
- 1897 — 3,910,600 people;
- 1926 — 5,272,800;
- 1939 — 6,271,300;
- 1959 — 8,105,600;
- 1970 — 11,799,400;
- 1979 — 15,390,800;
- 1989 — 19,905,200;
- 2026 — 39,047,300.
Earlier, it was reported that, according to the preliminary results of the population and agricultural census, 56,860 foreign citizens who have been living in Uzbekistan for more than one year were registered.
