QALAMPIR.UZ received a complaint on April 20 of this year regarding an incident on Taras Shevchenko Street in Tashkent. According to the report, a citizen identified as A.G. (female), born in 1971, lost control of the BYD vehicle she was operating and ran over a disabled (mute) citizen, T.U., who has been disabled since childhood. Following the incident, A.G. reportedly accused the victim of “blackmail” and failed to provide adequate assistance.

It was reported that T.U. sustained multiple fractures in his left leg, suffered torn muscle tendons, and experienced significant blood loss. He was urgently hospitalized in the intensive care unit of Republican Clinical Hospital No. 1. Although a month has passed since the incident, T.U.’s condition remains serious, and he continues to receive treatment at various hospitals in Tashkent due to slow recovery.

Initially, the driver reported the victim’s condition to authorities. However, T.U. has now stated that the driver is accusing him of intentionally “lying down” under the vehicle.

“The vehicle owner, A.G., provided some medicine in the early days following the incident, but she has since refused further financial assistance. She visits the hospital where T.U. is receiving treatment, claims he intentionally lay under the car, intimidates the doctors, and demands that he be discharged as soon as possible,” the appeal claims.

It is further noted that T.U. continues to suffer from serious health complications. Doctors have indicated that he will unlikely be able to walk again. As the hospital treatment is not free, T.U.’s relatives have been forced to borrow money to continue his care.

QALAMPIR.UZ reached out to Nilufar Isakhanova, head of the Information Multimedia Center of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent, to clarify the situation. She confirmed that a criminal case had been initiated under Article 266 of the Criminal Code and that investigative actions were taken. The case has since been closed, and preparations are underway to submit it to court through legal procedures.

As a reminder, a similar incident took place earlier in Fergana, where a man who intentionally ran over an acquaintance with his car was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison.
