Shavkat Mirziyoyev receives Azerbaijan's Economy Minister

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan on July 17 received Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov, who is visiting the country on a working trip. The announcement was made by the Presidential Press Service.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Azerbaijani minister conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of President Ilham Aliyev to the Uzbek leader.

The sides discussed key issues related to further strengthening the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, with particular focus on expanding trade and economic cooperation.

According to the statement, bilateral trade increased by 15 percent last year, while trade turnover has grown by nearly 40 percent so far this year.

The two countries are implementing joint cooperation projects in construction, energy, geology, logistics, finance, fuel, textiles, tourism, and other sectors, including through their joint investment company.

President Mirziyoyev also underscored the importance of thoroughly preparing the economic agenda for upcoming high-level bilateral meetings.

In this regard, the outcomes of the Intergovernmental Commission meeting and the Business Council session held earlier on July 17 were highly praised. The parties also stressed the need to ensure productive results from the upcoming forum of the two countries' regions.
