Special Advisor to the President of Uzbekistan, Sardor Umurzakov, is currently holding a series of meetings in Beijing, China. This was reported by the Xinhua news agency.

On February 24, Umurzakov met with Liu Jianchao, head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

"The parties exchanged views on implementing key agreements reached by the leaders of both countries, strengthening inter-party ties, deepening experience-sharing in public administration, and advancing the qualitative development of China-Uzbekistan relations," the report stated.

On February 25, Umurzakov held talks with Li Shulei, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China and head of the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee.

According to Li Shulei, last year, the leaders of China and Uzbekistan declared a new phase in their bilateral relations, elevating them to a comprehensive strategic partnership in the new era.

"China is ready to collaborate with Uzbekistan to implement the important consensus reached by both leaders, enhance inter-party cooperation, deepen cultural and humanitarian exchanges, foster dialogue between civilizations, and promote the steady development of bilateral ties," he stated.

In response, Umurzakov reaffirmed Uzbekistan's commitment to strengthening cooperation with China across all sectors and further advancing relations in line with the priorities set by both leaders.

For reference, Sardor Umurzakov served as Head of the Presidential Administration from July 16, 2022, to August 17, 2023. Following the termination of that position, he was appointed as Advisor to the President on Special Assignments. However, he has made few public appearances since then. His last known engagement was in July 2023, when he met with Suma Chakrabarti, Advisor to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Economic Development, Effective Governance, and International Cooperation, as well as former Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili.
