In the Pastdargom district of the Samarkand region, citizens were found to have illegally hunted pheasants. The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change reported the incident.

According to the ministry, investigations revealed that residents S.T. and Z.N. of the ’’Turkman’’ neighborhood in the Pastdargom district had unlawfully hunted seven wild Zarafshan pheasants in the territory of the ’’Yuksalish’’ neighborhood of the Nurobod district.

The Zarafshan pheasant is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan and is classified as a near-threatened species. Although its population has stabilized, conservation measures remain crucial.

As a result of the offense, environmental damage amounting to 288 million 400 thousand soums was caused. The case materials have been submitted to the Samarkand regional prosecutor’s office for legal evaluation and appropriate action.

It is worth noting that earlier, a foreign company in Samarkand caused environmental damage amounting to 7 billion soums.
