Uzbekistan national team striker Eldor Shomurodov has officially joined Turkish club Basaksehir on loan from AS Roma. The Istanbul-based club announced the transfer through its press service.

The 29-year-old forward has been loaned until the end of the 2025–2026 season, with an option to make the move permanent.

"Welcome to our family, player of the Uzbekistan national team. We wish you success in our rich yellow and rich blue jersey," read the club's official statement.

Although Shomurodov still had one year remaining on his contract with Roma, he had been listed among the players expected to leave since the end of last season.

Last season, he featured in 37 matches for Roma, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists. Roma are currently working to trim their squad and improve revenue to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations. Shomurodov's departure is part of that broader strategy.

According to renowned football insider Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes a €3 million loan fee and a €2.7 million buyout clause. Roma would also be entitled to 10% of any future sale.
