Today, August 25, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited Samarkand and paid tribute at the Imam Bukhari mausoleum, the President’s press service reported.
The visit began with the recitation of the Quran and prayers. Afterwards, the Head of State reviewed the ongoing construction and restoration work at the site.

A large complex is currently being constructed at the site to improve facilities for visitors. The total area of the pilgrimage site has been expanded to 44 hectares. The mausoleum, a mosque with a capacity of 10,000, and an administrative building have been completed. Four 75-meter minarets at the corners of the complex add to its grandeur. Finishing works are now underway, including inscribing hadiths from “Sahih al-Bukhari” on the facades and walls of the iwans.

The President emphasized that the complex should serve not only as a pilgrimage site but also as a center for knowledge, education, and moral guidance. It was noted that Imam Bukhari’s great scholarship, dedication, and personal excellence should serve as an inspiring example for visitors, especially young people. To this end, an innovative museum is being established within the new complex. It will showcase the life and scholarly legacy of Imam Bukhari, recognized as the “Sultan of Hadith” in the Islamic world, and highlight his contribution to the development of Islamic knowledge.

Additionally, the museum will feature the histories of 25 prophets mentioned in the Holy Quran, the genealogy of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), details of his life in Mecca and Medina, and information on the compilation and recording of the Hadiths.

The Head of State gave instructions to ensure high-quality construction, expand visitor facilities, and increase green spaces around the complex.
It is worth noting that earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan traveled to Samarkand. The visit coincides with the official visit of King Abdullah II ibn Al-Hussein of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to Uzbekistan on August 25–26. During the high-level talks in Samarkand, issues related to political, trade-economic, and investment cooperation will be discussed.
