On September 21 of this year, reports spread on social media that an English teacher at school no. 7 in Almalyk, Tashkent region, had marked ’’2’’ (a failing grade) on the foreheads and faces of 3rd-grade students. The regional department of Preschool and School Education has commented on the incident.

According to the statement, a working group composed of officials from the Almalyk city department of Preschool and School Education was formed the same day to investigate the matter. The inquiry confirmed the authenticity of the incident. It was revealed that the teacher had taken such action as a form of punishment against students who came unprepared for the lesson.

Given the teacher’s youth, lack of experience, and expressed remorse, a disciplinary measure in the form of a ’’reprimand’’ was imposed based on her written explanation.

It was earlier reported that the principal of school no. 62 in the Uchtepa district of Tashkent had insulted female teaching staff in front of 1st-grade pupils. Following the incident, legal measures were taken against the principal, and he was dismissed from his position.
