Authorities bust land scam in Navoi and beyond (video)

In Navoi region’s Karmana district, a private entrepreneur was apprehended for attempting to sell a 1-hectare plot of land from the district hokimiyat’s reserves. The suspect misled a buyer, claiming the land was privately owned, and demanded 2 billion soums, promising to register it through connections with officials. He was caught red-handed in Navoi city while accepting 1 billion soums of the payment, with clear evidence collected by the State Security Service and the Prosecutor General’s Office.

In Andijan region, two brothers (born in 1992 and 1994) were found trying to facilitate the registration of 2 hectares of state land under a buyer’s name in exchange for $300,000. One of them was detained after receiving $50,000 as part of the payment.

Meanwhile, in Fergana region’s Uchkuprik district, a farmer specializing in cotton and grain farming attempted to sell 50 sotix of irrigated land for $55,000. He was apprehended while taking $45,000.

In another case in Quva district, the head of a confectionery production company was caught selling 10 sotix of land, registered as residential property, for $35,000 by leveraging contacts in the cadastral system.

A large-scale operation in Tashkent city revealed a scheme involving a 16 ar state land plot in Tashkent district. A resident (born in 1964) arranged to sell the land for $352,000, with each ar priced at $22,000, claiming he could secure registration through high-ranking officials. He was detained after receiving $30,000 as an advance payment. His accomplice, a previously convicted individual (born in 1952), was also arrested for taking the same amount.

In all these cases, the authorities launched criminal investigations under relevant articles of the Criminal Code, with ongoing inquiries to bring the perpetrators to justice.

Earlier, a similar case was reported in Farg‘ona, where an individual attempted to sell 2.5 hectares of state land for $650,000, receiving $100,000 in advance before being detained.
