Today, September 29, the next court hearing of Mubashshir Ahmad (Alisher Tursunov), a religious scholar and blogger and the founder of the information and analytical portal "Azon Global", was scheduled to take place at the Uchtepa District Court in Tashkent. However, the hearing was postponed once again, "Azon Global" reported.
According to the publication, the trial has been rescheduled for October 2 at 16:00. No official reason has been provided for the postponement.
It should be noted that this is not the first time the trial in Tursunov’s case has been delayed. The first hearing was held on August 19 but was postponed to September 8 due to the absence of several witnesses. During the second hearing, the witnesses present did not provide sufficient evidence to support the charges, and the trial was subsequently adjourned until September 15. At the following session, Tursunov responded to a question related to the charges against him.
For reference, a criminal case was initiated against Alisher Tursunov under Article 244-1 (preparation, storage, distribution, or demonstration of materials threatening public safety and public order) and Article 244-3 (illegal preparation, storage, import, or distribution of materials of religious content) of the Criminal Code. A preventive measure in the form of arrest was applied.
It is worth noting that the previous court hearing in Mubashshir Ahmad’s case was held on September 18. During that session, the state prosecutor requested a seven-year prison sentence for him.
