Mirziyoyev holds meeting with Lavrov in Samarkand

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand on April 23. The news was reported by the press service of the President.

As part of the visit, the head of state is scheduled to hold a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergei Lavrov.

In the second half of the day, the national leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, is expected to arrive in Uzbekistan on a visit. The two leaders are scheduled to hold talks and take part in several joint events.

It is worth recalling that Minister Lavrov arrived in Samarkand on April 22. He was welcomed at the airport by Uzbekistan’s Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov.

According to Ahror Burkhanov, the press secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the talks between the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan and Russia began on April 23 in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. The parties are discussing the current status and future prospects of political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation. They are also exchanging views on key regional and international matters.

Special attention is expected to be paid to enhancing the bilateral strategic partnership, including the implementation of joint projects and the expansion of cooperation across various sectors.
